Ontarian Government Finally Approved Regulation of Internet Gambling
After many years of argument finally the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has declared that soon the Ontarians can access their own gambling site. Yes, the wait for the Ontarians is finally over as OLG is joining hands with the Westernmost Canadian province, British Columbia and they will be launching an internet gambling website in the year 2012. It is also declared that the Alcohol and gaming commission of the province will be responsible for the regulation of this new site.
Other Atlantic provinces of Canada including New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador, are also expected to introduce this program in their respective areas in a near future.
It is estimated that around $400 million is spent every year, by the people in Ontario on the various non-regulated gambling sites, most of which belongs to other states or provinces. Thus, the officials at the Lottery and Gaming Corp. have clearly stated that launching their own gaming site is definitely a huge step towards clawing back their own money.
Paul Godfrey, the Chairman of OLG Corp. stated, “In a situation where, online commerce is becoming the part of our day-to-day lives, we are very happy to take an initiative towards the online gaming consultation process, so that we can contribute in its market growth in the coming years”.
He also said that this forth coming website will lay more emphasis on responsible gaming; however it won’t compromise with the fun and excitement of the players in anyways. Stress will be paid on certain essential issues such as online security, privacy of a player and protection against other gambling related issues.
Thus, legalizing internet gambling can proves to be a quite reliable source for earning revenues by the government. Moreover, the Ontarians now have their own safe and secured internet gaming site.
