New Jersey’s Gambling Industry Problems Highlighted in Atlantic City Convention
The Convention Center of Atlantic City was filled with lawmakers, casino executives, economists, union leaders and businesspersons related to the gambling industry of Atlantic City. This convention took place last Friday. This convention was organized to support the move of Governor Christie to remodel the Atlantic City in order to ensure that the gambling industry, which is at present struggling to keep itself alive, gets a new boost of life.
However, for this project to succeed, all the necessary resources will be required. At the same time, all the available political support for this cause will ne needed. This convention was one of its first kinds to secure the future prospects of horse racing and gambling industry of New Jersey. Lorenzo Langford, Mayor of Atlantic City, expressed his feelings about the issue, stating that any kind of help and assistance provided by the state for the gaming industry is welcome.
According to Mayor Lorenzo, this carving of a new special district is nothing to be feared for and it is not to be seen as a takeover. This convention had its focus on Christie’s announcement about Atlantic City’s overhauling and the main agenda was to review the plan. According to Christie, this is a move that will inject new life force to New Jersey’s casinos, which are its economical backbone.
Although there were mixed reactions to the plans that were put forward for saving Atlantic City, the overall atmosphere about these plans seemed good. As per the suggestion of State Senator Paulo Sarlo, it would be much more beneficial for New Jersey to expand the string of world class casinos in New York City than opting for other states. At this point, this seems to be an excellent suggestion and let us hope that all the plans, when put to use is able to revive the staggering gambling industry of Atlantic City.
