Guardian Arrested for Endangering His Child’s Safety
Police arrested grandfather, Alexander Salter Jr. for leaving his 12 year old grandson locked in a car at the parking lot of Parx Casino. The kid was left locked in the car without any air conditioning, while his guardian went inside the casino to gamble. After sometime, the kid was spotted by one of the police authorities.
Salter was charged for threatening the kid’s safety. He was released on an unsecured bail of $25,000, according to a statement by the police authorities. In a news release, the authorities have announced their coming policies, which declare this kind of irresponsible parenting behavior from any guardian as a criminal offence.
Robert Tomlinson, the state senator, along with Representative Gene DiGirolamo mentioned, “It would not be enough to just increase the penalty, but the government needs to enact a more effective solution to this issue. Five to seven years in jail is the real hammer, which we need at this point of time”.
Fred Harran, Public Safety Director of Bensalem, has expressed his disappointment saying that the guardians have to understand their duties by themselves. It is not the government’s responsibility to compel the parents every time to think about their children’s safety and security. He also added that he personally went to visit the parking lot at Parx looking inside every car in order to ensure that no kid is left alone in it.
The Parx Casino has announced the permanently banning of all the offended guardians. They also stated that they have increased the parking lot patrols, which include an enhanced number of security cameras around the lot and signs inside the gambling house alerting the customers about the issue.
The State Gaming Control Board told the police force at Parx Casino parking lot to become more attentive towards this issue.
