Furor at Alabama Owing to Gambling Interests
The debate of Gambling interests reached its peak in Alabama with no mid way ground remaining. Governor, Robert Riley who is himself a part of the anti-gambling groups has taken hard measures against gambling.
On the other hand, the major gambling groups have tried hard and fast to establish the legal standpoints of gambling but have failed considerably to establish their point on a number of occasions. As such, there has been an increase in the donation of the political campaigns in Alabama which is the result of the split between these two groups.
Milton McGregor is the heart of the campaign donations favoring the cause of the pro-gambling groups. McGregor, the owner of proficient gambling centers in Alabama hopes for good that the higher authorities will eventually fall by the line. He himself has made a profound contribution covering $1.9 million for the political committees.
Governor Riley on the other hand has entrusted a Task Force against gambling by establishing illegalities amongst the gambling establishments. This Task Force has managed to shut down some famous Alabama gambling establishments which has caused furor in the state.
Mark Braylor says that this so called Task Force is nothing but the enforced will of the Governor against his own people who made him victorious. Braylor added that the Governor must check out his popularity ratings instead of thinking about doing favor for the masses by shutting down entertainment from Alabama.
It is indeed true that the Governor’s popularity has been a meager low and even Alabama residents who are against gambling has condemned the actions of the Task Force. Meanwhile the Supreme Court ruled out the seizing verdict of the Task Force made by Attorney General, Troy King.
